It's very flattering: Ayushmann Khurrana talks about his namesake 'genre'
Ever since his debut in Bollywood with Shoojit Sircar's quirky rom-com Vicky Donor, the amazingly talented Ayushmann Khurrana has delivered innumerable hits, that are both high on entertainment value and are socially relevant.
Now, people have started calling his set of films, "The Ayushmann Khurrana genre", courtesy his brave and unconventional movie choices.
The 35-year-old feels pretty flattered about it. Here's what he said.
'It is a validation of the cinema I am doing'
Talking about this genre, Khurrana, whose box-office numbers make him one of the most bankable leads in the industry, said he never thought of such a title.
He said, "I never thought people will call it as a genre that originated from my name, but it's very flattering. I'm glad that people are saying so. It's a validation of the cinema I'm doing."
'This year has been really special for me'
Khurrana added, "It feels nice because this year has been really special for me. It started with a film like Article 15, then Dream Girl and Bala released... all these belonged to different genres."
"It got a lot of appreciation and I am glad that people are giving me a lot of love," he told media at the Glamour and Style Awards 2019.
Khurrana registered a 300% rise in his brand endorsement deals
Starting with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) up to his latest silver-screen outing Bala, Khurrana has delivered as many as seven back-to-back hits.
Meanwhile, during this period, the number of his endorsement deals rose by 300%. He now endorses a whopping 20 brands.
Further, he also won a National Film Award for Best Actor for the 2018 thriller Andhadhun.
Khurrana to feature in 'SMZS', 'Gulabo Sitabo'
Khurrana's last film Bala, wherein he essayed the role of a young man suffering from premature balding, is still running strong at theaters.
Separately, he will soon be seen in a homosexuality-based romantic comedy film, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. It is set to release on February 21, 2020.
Thereafter, he will feature in Sircar's family drama Gulabo Sitabo, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Nalneesh Neel.
