Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor who recently turned investor by co-investing in food delivery start-up FoodCloud, has said that his company is aiming to improve gender parity in our society.
"Our start-up, foodcloud.in, is aiming to bring about a positive social change towards gender parity in our society," Kapoor told IANS.
Here's more on what he said.
FoodCloud delivers food cooked by stay-at-home women
Kapoor had invested an undisclosed amount in the said start-up back in May.
FoodCloud was founded by Vedant Kanoi, Sanjhi Rajgarhia, and Shamit Khemka in September 2013.
It delivers hygienic and home-cooked food made by women home cooks, directly to customers.
The start-up, that currently serves in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Kolkata, plans to expand to six more cities across India.
'This platform will contribute towards empowering homemakers'
Talking about the venture, Kapoor said, "It is extremely close to my heart and I've been doing my best to raise awareness about this platform for past couple of months."
"I feel this unique and impactful platform will serve a massive social purpose and contribute towards empowering homemakers and stay-at-home women to either maximize their own income or contribute towards their family-income," he added.
'A huge step towards finding self-respect and self-reliance'
Kapoor said, "To me, this can become a huge step towards finding self-respect, self-reliance, and self-empowerment," adding that he is delighted with the response so far.
"The team is constantly on the lookout to find the best stay-at-home chefs from various cities and bring them on the platform. We are looking to find the best culinary heroes from every locality of India," he summed.
