Rajinikanth to enter politics?
Addressing a gathering of his fans in Chennai, actor Rajinikanth hinted at the possibility of him joining politics.
Speaking to his fans, he said "The system is corrupt, we all need to work together to change it." He heaped praise on the people of Tamil Nadu.
He also made mention of several politicians in the state and the good work they did.
Fact: Who is Rajinikanth?
Rajinikanth was born, Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on 12 December 1950 in Bengaluru. He worked as a bus conductor with Bangalore Transport Service and acted in plays. He joined Tamil cinema in 1973 when he joined the Madras Film Institute to pursue a diploma in acting.

He told his fans, "What is wrong in serving the people who have raised me to the top. Why should I not expect their lives to improve too?"
Tamil Nadu: Praises for Tamil Nadu
Heaping praises on Tamil Nadu and its people, Rajinikanth thanked them for their support.
He said "I will call you when there's a war. You come then," possibly hinting at his electoral debut.
He added that he had been in "Tamil Nadu for more than 40 years. I am a pure Tamil, you have made me a Tamil."

Rajinikanth also said that opposition leader MK Stalin was an able administrator. He said "Stalin will function very well if given a free hand." He added that "Anbumani Ramadoss has travelled the world and has some good plans. He can be a modern thinker."

Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Sunday said BJP would welcome actor Rajinikanth, but the superstar first has to decide to enter politics.
Speaking at an India Today TV event in New Delhi, Amit Shah said only Rajinikanth can decide if he wants join politics.
On speculation about Rajinikanth meeting PM Modi, Shah said good people from every sector meet the PM.
22 May 2017: Pro-Tamil groups protest Rajinikanth's politics move, detained
Protesters from the Thamizhar Munetra Padai took out a rally toward actor Rajinikanth's house, protesting against his move to enter politics.
They stated that there were many Tamils who could rule the state, and they did not need an immigrant from another state to rule over them.
Police detained several of the protesters and stepped up security around the actor's house.
