In a gruesome and shocking incident, four puppies were burnt alive in an open plot in Kapra in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Their mother tried stopping the torture unleashed on the newborns, but failed. Later, she was seen wailing in front of her puppies.
The video of this inhumane incident surfaced on social media and prompted angry reactions from people.
Laxminarayana, a resident of Ganesh Nagar informed PFA Hyderabad about the incident. As soon as they learned of it, they rushed to the spot.
Three puppies out of four had died when the volunteers reached. They took one to the hospital, where he died in the evening.
In the heartwrenching video, their mother can be seen weeping near their bodies.
PFA activists registered a complaint at the Kushaiguda police station. "It is totally unacceptable, unconstitutional and illegal under Section 11 (1) A of the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals Act 1960 and IPC 429," their complaint states.
Notably, they also accused police of laxity and said this is not a standalone incident.
According to TNM, police didn't clarify about registration of FIR.
"This is not an isolated case. We have had similar cases. People are becoming crueler with animals day by day. We need more awareness campaigns to sensitize people and this kind of cruelty towards animals cannot be tolerated," said Pennarru Teja, a city-based animal activist.
On Facebook, the post shared by PFA Hyderabad made people angry.
Reema Ganguly commented: Cruelty beyond imagination karma will pay them, while Chandana Veerareddy wrote: OMG, poor puppies. How could someone do that to any animals...shameless idiots. Wish they will rot to hell.

Meanwhile, police are investigating CCTV footage of the area to nab the accused.
