India is the world's largest democracy where "voting" is crucial in shaping the country's destiny.
Eligible "new" voters, who haven't registered, might still have a chance. Check the last date for your constituency.
The NVSP website says, "Deletion and Modification shall not be processed after 20/03/2019. However, addition will continue till the last date of nomination. Application for addition should be submitted at most 10 days before last date of nomination."
2019 Lok Sabha polls would be conducted in seven phases; Phase-I on 11 April and Phase-II on 18 April.
For Parliamentary constituencies where polling will be held under Phase-I and Phase-II, the last date for candidate nomination is 25 March and 26 March, respectively.
Since new voter registration can be done 10 days before nomination closes, those from Phase-I/Phase-II constituencies cannot register anymore.
Some major cities in the country (that fall under Phases III-VII of polling) where new voter registration would be open include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Trivandrum, Bhubaneshwar, and Ahmedabad.
Last dates for new voter registration in these cities are: 24 March for Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, and Trivandrum; 29 March for Mumbai; 8 April for Lucknow; 13 April for Delhi; and 19 April for Kolkata.
Phase-III polling will be held on 23 April in 115 constituencies across 14 states. Since the last date for candidate nomination for these constituencies is 4 April, new voters can register until 24 March.
Meanwhile, Phase-IV will be conducted in 71 constituencies of nine states on 29 April. Last date of filing nomination is 9 April; voter registration would be open till 29 March.
The Phase-V of polling is scheduled for 6 May in 51 Parliamentary constituencies across seven states. While candidate nomination is open until 18 April, new voters can register by 8 April.
Phase-VI would be held in 59 constituencies in seven states on 12 May. New voter registration would be done until 13 April as candidate nomination closes on 23 April.
Coming to the final Phase-VII of polling, it is scheduled for 19 May in 59 Lok Sabha constituencies across eight states. Last date of filing nomination for candidates is 29 April in these constituencies. So, new voters in these constituencies can register by 19 April.
