Two masked terrorists on a bike attacked security personnel
According to Hasan, there were two masked terrorists who came on a bike and attacked the security personnel at KP Road, reported India Today. Meanwhile, news agency ANI reported that the SHO of Anantnag was critically injured in the terrorist attack.
Terrorists also hurled grenades at the patrol team: Officials
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Anantnag Police Station, Arshad Ahmed, who was injured, has been reportedly shifted to Srinagar for treatment, according to officials.
Officials added that there were at least two terrorists who attacked the patrol team with automatic rifles and also hurled grenades at the forces.
An unidentified civilian has also been killed in the gunfight, said reports.
Pakistan-based Al-Umar Mujahideen outfit claims responsibility for the attack
Pakistan-based terror outfit, Al-Umar Mujahideen, claimed responsibility for the attack, reported Kashmiri news agency GNS.
Al-Umar Mujahideen is led by Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, one of the terrorists India released along with Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar in return for passengers of Indian Airlines flight IC-814 hijacked in 1999.
Notably, this attack comes only months after Jaish-e-Mohammed's suicide attack in Pulwama that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
