For a couple in Delhi, the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday turned traumatic as they were robbed in the parking lot of their own house. The fact that their two kids were inside the car makes the incident all the more disturbing.
A CCTV camera recorded the chilling incident, which has shed light on lawlessness in the national capital again.
Here's what happened.
Family was returning from relatives' house, was targeted
The victim was identified as Varun Bahl. Along with his wife and kids, Varun was returning from his in-laws' place, when he saw three masked men right outside his house.
"Realizing that the house gates are all open and that too in the middle of the night, I drove back to my house and parked my car in the front verandah," he said.
Men cornered Varun at gunpoint, stole his belongings
After stopping the car, Varun got down to close the gates. But he was clearly not prepared for what happened next.
Three men, who covered their faces with handkerchiefs, pointed their guns at him, asking him to hand over his belongings.
They took his wallet and gold bracelet. "They didn't seem interested in my watch," Varun said in his complaint.
Wife tried to call someone, accused took her phone
Meanwhile, Varun's wife, who sat in the front holding her child, saw the incident through the car's mirror.
In the video, she can be seen taking out her phone, probably to alert someone. After a few seconds, one of the masked men approached her.
He asked her if she wore a gold chain. When she answered in the negative, he snatched her phone.
Obviously, the incident scared Varun and his family
After looting the family, the men left, but not before threatening Varun.
One of the men pointed a gun at Varun and asked him to stay put. "We got so scared that we just wanted to stay indoors in a closed room. Even our kids kept on crying," he said. Reportedly, Varun's wallet had Rs. 19,000.
He later approached the police.

Police filed a complaint, intercepted three suspects too
Vijayanta Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest), said Varun didn't report the incident immediately. He filed a complaint on Sunday afternoon, and efforts are on to nab the accused, Arya added.
Notably, the patrolling unit of Adarsh Nagar police station noticed three suspicious men. When they chased them, the men fired at police.
Police also retaliated with bullets, but the three managed to flee.
