When Rahul lost Congress' loyal constituency to Irani

2019 election results were declared on May 23, and BJP returned with a thumping victory.

The biggest surprise this time was when Irani defeated Rahul in Amethi by over 55,000 votes.

That's because Amethi has essentially been a Gandhi stronghold, and was also represented by Rajiv Gandhi in the Lok Sabha.

In 2014, Rahul had won the seat with over 1L votes.
