UP: Cops mercilessly thrash youth as his terrified nephew watches
A hair-raising incident of police brutality has been reported from Uttar Pradesh's Siddharth Nagar district, wherein two cops savagely thrashed a youth after he allegedly broke traffic rules.
As the cops dragged him, pulled his hands and legs, the nephew of the poor youth watched.
A video of the assault went viral prompting higher authorities to suspend the accused police officers.
Here's what happened.
Initially, police wanted to check youth's papers, then beat him
What led to the inhumane assault was not clear, but apparently the youth, identified as one Rinku Pandey, got into an altercation with the police personnel on Tuesday.
Pandey, who was riding a motorcycle, was stopped for papers and after some time the officers started beating him.
A bystander recorded the incident on his phone, and it went viral soon.
One cop locked Pandey's neck, another thrashed him
The two cops who crossed all limits of human behavior were identified as S-I Virendra Mishra and constable Mahendra Prasad.
In the clip, Mishra can be seen locking Pandey's neck with his legs, while Prasad rained blows on his back.
In his plea, Pandey told the policemen to "lock him up" if he is at fault. Reportedly, the little boy got injured too.

The behavior of cops was unacceptable, have suspended them: SP
Naturally, the clip earned UP police criticism.
Condemning the incident, Siddharth Nagar SP Dharam Veer Singh, said, "The policemen dealt with the situation in an unacceptable manner. It was a disgusting and condemnable act of indiscipline. Following an inquiry by our SP Sadar, we suspended the policemen."
Pandey was allowed to go and they haven't received any complaint in the matter, Singh added.
According to Singh, Pandey was drunk
To note, Singh claimed Pandey was drunk and was fighting with another youth.
"On Tuesday when Muharram was marked, we received information by one Akhtar that Pandey was abusing a Muslim youth in an inebriated state. Sakarpar police outpost in-charge Virendra Mishra and head constable Mahendra Prasad reached there," said Singh.
He noted the cops' behavior was "disgraceful to the police department".
