Muzaffarpur bank robbed; masked men escape with Rs. 8 lakh
The six robbers, who all covered their faces or wore helmets, were caught on CCTV cameras as they forcibly entered the ICICI Bank in Muzaffarpur's Gobarsahi area.
Ten employees and 4-5 account-holders were present during the incident.
Robbers injured guard; took his weapon away
According to The Times of India, the armed robbers entered the bank at 11:45 am, injuring the guard, Dinesh Tiwari, and taking his gun.
Tiwari said he was first approached by three men who asked him about the time when the bank opens.
They then put a gun to his chest and took the guard's weapon away and dragged him inside the branch.
Bank manager says Rs. 8L looted; SSP disputes claim
The bank manager told TOI, "One of the six miscreants put his gun on my head and warned to kill me if anybody will raise an alarm for help. Later, they fled away with Rs. 8,05,115."
However, Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manoj Kumar disputed the loot amount claimed, saying the robbers took less than Rs. 2 lakh.
Manager didn't confirm the exact amount: SSP
The SSP said, "I talked to the manager, who didn't confirm the exact amount. According to him, it may be less than Rs. 2 lakh as no currency with bigger denomination was there," adding that they will confirm the loot amount after checking cash/collection registers.
Blocked all town exits; search operations on: SSP Kumar
Kumar said they're looking at the CCTV footage to identify the criminals.
He said, "All criminals were in their early 20s. We have blocked all exit points of the town and intensive search operations have been launched to nab them."
Meanwhile, it was also alleged policemen took over 30 minutes to reach the bank despite it being 200m away from the Sadar police station.
