Student suicides: IIT-KGP boy found hanging in hostel room

Third suicide of 2017 in IIT-Kharagpur

Nidhin N, a fourth-year aerospace engineering student at IIT-Kharagpur, was found hanging from the ceiling in his hostel room in Nehru Hall B Block.

"Let me sleep," said his alleged suicide note.

His body has been sent for post mortem. IIT authorities have refused to comment.

This is the third suicide in the campus this year, the second in a month.

Nidhin (22) from Kerala used to set his alarm at 2am every night to study. When it didn't stop ringing on April 21 morning, other students suspected something was suspicious.

Nidhin didn't respond when they knocked on his door; hostel authorities were alerted after he didn't appear during the day.

People broke the window panes to find him hanging.

Police have initiated a probe.

Spate in suicides at IIT Kharagpur

The Kharagpur campus witnessed the first student suicide of 2017 on January 16, when Lokesh Meena of Rajasthan jumped in front of a train. On March 30, the body of Sana Sree Raj from Andhra Pradesh was found on the same tracks.
