Punjab: Roads repaired just for CM

Residents in Vein Poin in Tarn Taran stated that the roads in their village had been repaired solely because Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh was coming to visit the kin of martyr Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh.

They alleged that no such work was carried out before.

Paramjit Singh was martyred in a cross-border raid carried out by Pakistani troops.

An Indian BSF jawan, Head constable Prem Sagar and an Army soldier Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh were martyred in Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir due to a ceasefire violation.

Pakistan reportedly fired upon 2 border posts, and simultaneously launched an attack on an Indian troop patrol operating between these posts.

The two Indian soldiers' bodies were also mutilated by Pakistani troops.

Punjab CM announces Rs. 12 lakh aid

Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh announced that Rs. 5 lakh in cash and a plot worth the same amount would be given to Paramjit Singh's wife and children, while Rs. 2 lakh would be given to his parents.

Elaborate repair works were put in place in anticipation of the CM's visit. Several roads were repaired and some were even relaid to ensure a smooth ride for the CM.

Workers from the state electricity department were also present to ensure that electricity supply would not be disrupted.

Water was being sprinkled to prevent dust in the air, and a helipad was built too.
