Students feared dead in J&K accident

A bus ferrying students of Gareeb Nawaz Academy, Manjakote, in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir met with an accident at Pir Ki Gali in Rajouri district. Over 40 students are feared to have died in the accident.

Over 45 people were travelling in the bus including students and faculty.

Police sources said that so far, "we have confirmation of casualty of 30 students."

How did the accident happen?

Sources stated that the students were on their way back from a picnic when the accident happened. The bus reportedly fell into a gorge at Pir Ki Gali in Rajouri. More details are awaited.

According to officials, the bus with 40 schoolchildren on a picnic that reportedly fell into a valley in J&K's Rajouri district, returned safely without any casualties.

Initial reports stated that the accident took place at Mansar. However, officials later denied reports of any accident, declaring everyone safe.

The bus was carrying 40 schoolchildren from the Gareeb Nawaz School in Poonch.
