Former DGP of Punjab, KPS Gill who was hailed as a super-cop for his work with the force passed away today at a hospital in Delhi.
Doctor said that Gill was admitted to hospital suffering from end-stage renal failure and heart disease. He passed away from cardiac arrest.
Sources said he breathed his last at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at 2:55 PM.

Who was KPS Gill?
He is credited with playing a key role in eliminating the insurgency inside Punjab between 1988-1995 and has been touted as Punjab's super cop.
Gill retired in 1995 and served as President of the Institute for Conflict Management and president of the Indian Hockey Federation.

KPS Gill was awarded India's fourth highest civilian honour, the Padma Shri in 1989 for his contributions to the services while he was working. He has been controversial for his blatant criticisms of the Indian government's approach to countering insurgency and handling national security.
