After Ravindra Gaikwad, TDP MP Diwakar Reddy banned by airlines

No end to abusive MPs?

Another MP has earned the wrath of Indian carriers. IndiGo and Air India have banned TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy after he misbehaved with staffers at the Visakhapatnam Airport.

SpiceJet and Jet Airways have reportedly barred him too.

Reddy was angry after he was denied boarding for reaching late. Boarding gates close 45 minutes prior to departure, but he arrived only 28 minutes earlier.

IndiGo Flight 6E-608 was scheduled to fly for Hyderabad at 8:10am. When Reddy reached late, staffers informed him boarding had closed.

He is seen angrily picking up a printer to throw it, then placing it back on the counter. He is also accused of pushing an IndiGo employee.

Reddy, meanwhile, denied all reports of a "spat".

He was eventually put on the same flight.

Repeat offender?

This isn't the first time the Anantapur constituency representative has faced a similar complaint. In October 2016, he was caught on camera vandalizing an Air India office at Vijaywada's Gannavaram airport.

That time, he had reached 15 minutes before departure and had missed his flight. Earlier, he demanded departure be delayed, which Air India didn't accept.

This comes three months after the Ravindra Gaikwad controversy

Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, also from TDP, was present at the airport when the incident happened, but reportedly refused to interfere when Reddy requested.

Three months ago, Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad had been banned by all Indian airlines after assaulting a 63-year-old AI staffer. The ban was lifted after he apologized.

The aviation ministry then framed rules on banning unruly passengers.

As govt launches probe, 'unruly' MP Diwakar Reddy leaves country

Even as the Civil Aviation Ministry ordered a probe into allegations of abusive behavior against TDP's JC Diwakar Reddy, the MP left for Paris late on June 16.

The trip with family had been booked "well in advance" and wasn't related to the enquiry, sources said.

Reddy has remained defiant, refusing to apologize for allegedly abusing IndiGo staffers at Visakhapatnam airport.
