Jharkhand man lynched as Modi warned 'gau rakshaks'

In a recent development in the Jharkhand lynching case wherein a Muslim trader was beaten to death for allegedly carrying beef in his van, BJP leader Nityanand Mahto was arrested in connection to the case.

The prime accused Chottu Rana too surrendered before the Court.

The incident took place the same day PM Modi slammed cow vigilantes for killing innocents in name of Gau-Bhakti.

A day earlier, PM Narendra Modi condemned killings in the name of 'gau bhakti' in Delhi.

On the same day, a mob in Jharkhand beat to death a driver on rumors he was carrying beef in his van.

A case was registered after police saw a video footage of the incident.

This is the second incident of cow-related violence within three days in Jharkhand.

DetailsWhat happened?

Around 30 people surrounded the West-Bengal-registered van being driven by Mohd Allimuddin in Bazaar Tand area of Ramgarh.

They dragged the Hazaribagh resident out of the vehicle and thrashed him as they suspected him of carrying beef.

They also set the van on fire.

Police soon reached the spot and rushed the man to a hospital, but he was declared brought dead.

Two days earlier, another similar incident in Giridih

On June 27, a mob attacked a man named Usman Ansari in Beria Hatiatand village of Deori (Giridih) after a cow carcass was reportedly found outside his house; he was suspected to have slaughtered it. They also set his house on fire. He is stable.
