Meghalaya: Rape accused MLA appointed to state Assembly panels
Meghalaya legislator Julius Dorphang, accused of raping a minor girl, has been appointed a member of the Committee of Privileges and the Committee on Subordinate Legislation.
Dorphang is currently lodged in a jail in Shillong and is being tried for raping a 14-year-old girl.
The announcement of his appointment has triggered anger in the state.
