A Pawan Hans mini-helicopter crashed in Aarey Colony, four minutes after its take off from the Juhu Airport.
The pilot, a Kargil war veteran alerted the control room of a clutch assembly failure, before losing his life in the crash landing.
The helicopter was hired for a joyride by a Borivali couple, who suffered severe injuries.
Helicopter's licence was due to expire in 2018.
'Kite rescue' lands firemen in ICU
Three firemen sustained severe burn injuries while rescuing a Kite, near Mahalaxmi on Saturday.
The kite which was caught up in overhead railway wires was being rescued by the trio, with a stick which had an iron hook.
Firemen were admitted to hospital, after they came in contact with the high-tension wires.
The bird has been admitted to veterinary hospital in Parel.
