Airline security officer assisted flyer to smuggle gold
A senior security officer of a Bangkok-based airline was arrested for allegedly aiding the smuggling of gold worth Rs. 78 lakh.
Officer Amit Bhostekar helped a flyer to smuggle 2.6kg gold by taking advantage of his access to the airport.
Two other flyers were also detained for smuggling gold in their rectum.
Customs officials have seized gold and diamond jewellery collectively worth Rs. 1.9crore.
BEST fares could be increased by 50%
Mumbai's BEST is currently considering a proposal, which when approved, could increase bus fares by 50%
The proposal might also let go of subsidies provided to students, senior citizens and physically challenged commuters.
The BEST committee will discuss the same on 6th April.
According to the BEST Chairman, Anil Kokil, the hike in fare prices was mandatory to compensate for the losses made.

Actor Vinod Khanna hospitalized
Actor and BJP Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Vinod Khanna was hospitalized on Tuesday due to severe dehydration.
The 70-year-old is being treated at Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Girgaum.
A statement issued by his family said his illness was brought under control soon and the actor is now stable.
They also expressed gratitude at the "good wishes pouring in."
Property tax collection falls short of target for 2016-17
Collection of property tax was unsuccessful in meeting its target for the second consecutive year; this is expected to affect BMC's income.
According to civic officials, Rs. 4,845 crore was collected till 31st March as opposed to the target of Rs. 5,200 crore.
However, funds collected by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation exclude refund amounts expected to be received by the civic body.
