Mumbai: Salman Khan rents out property for Rs. 80 lakh/month

Actor Salman Khan leased out a commercial building for a whopping rent of Rs. 80 lakh/month for first five years to Future Group, Big Bazaar owner.

Future Group confirmed signing the deal and said they plan to open a food hall.

The property, which was recently constructed, was bought by Khan for Rs. 120 crore in 2012.

LawGovt questioned for categorizing Dahi handi an adventure sport

Bombay HC questioned Maharashtra government for categorizing dahi handi as an 'adventure sport' and asked how HC's order of capping human pyramid's height, restricting participation to adults only can be violated under the pretext on being an adventure sport.

Earlier, a resolution issued by Maharashtra sports department said formation of human pyramids to celebrate Krishna Janmashtami would be treated as an adventure sport.

Thane was lashed by heavy downpour on Tuesday morning. It is predicted that rains would continue till July 20 and Thane Municipal Corporation warned the residents to leave home only if required.

The downpour led to incidents of water-logging, traffic congestion and trees falling in many areas.

Meanwhile, Mumbai recorded 139.8 mm on Monday which is the highest rain for July in three years.

1993 Mumbai blasts convict Abu Salem moved a plea in court seeking parole or temporary bail in order to attend registrar's office to get married.

The court has asked CBI to file a reply on Salem's plea.

Salem was convicted along with five others by the TADA court for their role in 1993 serial blasts that claimed 257 lives.

A high court appointed panel after conducting inspections revealed in its report that numerous trees along Colaba-to-Seepz Metro III route, which were marked for transplantation, have had their branches cut indiscriminately.

The panel also highlighted how some trees were unnecessarily marked for cut even though they were no obstacles to construction. Even the trees not marked for cutting in original plan were getting cut.

7 swine flu deaths, 2 leptospirosis deaths in July

BMC's public health department confirmed seven more swine flu deaths (from July 1 to July 15) taking death toll to 22 in Mumbai. Moreover, 544 cases of gastroenteritis, 309 of malaria and 28 dengue cases have been confirmed by officials in July.
