28 years for Maya Kodnani in Naroda-Patiya massacre case
Mayaben Kodnani was sentenced to 28 years in jail in the Gujarat riot's Naroda-Patiya massacre case.
The judge said she had abandoned her duties as an MLA.
The court further observed that Dr. Kodnani was the "kingpin of entire riots in the Naroda-Patiya area" and that "she led the mob and incited them to violence. She abetted and supported the violent mob".

Amit Shah to be defence witness for Maya Kodnani
A special court allowed Maya Kodnani's application to call BJP president Amit Shah and 13 others as her defence witnesses.
Her counsel said that the contradictory statements of 3 prosecution witnesses about Kodnani's whereabouts made it necessary to call upon Amit Shah to establish Kodnani's alibi.
Kodnani said she met Shah in the state Assembly in Gandhinagar on the day of riots.

2002 Gujarat riots: Amit Shah backs Maya Kodnani's alibi
BJP chief Amit Shah has backed the alibi of Maya Kodnani, a party leader accused in the Gujarat riots case, who says she wasn't present when 11 Muslims were killed in Naroda Gam of Ahmedabad.
According to Kodnani, on February 28, 2002, she went straight to a hospital she ran in Ahmedabad from the Assembly. Shah and others were present there too, she claimed.
