President Ram Nath Kovind appoints new Governors for five states
Banwarilal Purohit was named the Governor of Tamil Nadu while Brigadier (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retired) was made the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
Kovind appointed Satya Pal Malik as the Governor of Bihar, Jagdish Mukhi as the Governor of Assam, and Ganga Prasad as the Governor of Meghalaya.
Five new Governors, one L-G appointed
Lieutenant-Governor of Andaman and Nicobar
Admiral (Retired) Devendra Kumar Joshi has been appointed as the Lieutenant-Governor of Andaman and Nicobar.
Joshi will be taking the place of Jagdish Mukhi, who has succeeded Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Assam.
An official statement from the President's office said the new appointments would come into effect from the date the incumbents assume charge of the new posts.
Extremely sensitive political situation in Tamil Nadu
