According to sources in the Congress' high command, it's quite likely that Rahul Gandhi's election as Congress president will be announced on 26th October, soon after the party's organizational elections on the same day.

Subsequently, Rahul Gandhi may take over the party's reins from Sonia Gandhi on 30th October.

Meanwhile, the party is looking to revive its influence in Telangana.

The Congress has a plan in place to revive itself in Telangana with the hope that the revival would generate much-needed momentum for the party nationally.

TDP working president Anumula Revanth Reddy is set to join the Congress on 9th November in what promises to be a high-profile event.

The Congress is looking to make the event a big one to extract maximum mileage.

Congress confident of winning in Telangana

"The working president of a political party (Telangana TDP) is joining Congress...There is no doubt our combined efforts to topple the dictatorial TRS government will fructify in 2019," said Mallu Ravi, the vice-president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
