Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha does it again!
Sinha compared Modi to 14th century Delhi Sultan, Muhammad bin Tughlaq, who had also implemented note ban.
Sinha further said countrymen can demand Arun Jaitley's resignation for putting them through "hardship."
Sinha said in olden-days, kings used to bring in new currencies but continued with the old.
However, 700 years back, Tughlaq introduced non-precious metal coins and discontinued with gold/silver ones.
This move had failed as it led to minting of forged coins; setting this right, cost him a lot of money.
Comparing Modi with Tughlaq, Sinha said demonetization had cost India Rs. 3.75L cr.
Referring to a report by the "Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy," Sinha claimed that printing new notes would cost the government Rs. 1.28L cr.
Further, if the economy has slowed down by 1.5% due to note ban, this has cost the economy another Rs. 2.25L cr.
Thus, adding up these figures, the economy suffered a total loss of Rs. 3.75L cr.
Sinha condemned demonetization and GST as being "media events." He said though earlier governments did take tough decisions, they didn't make huge spectacles of it. Further, he claimed that unemployment is the country's biggest problem. He urged the government to take corrective action soon.
Taking a dig at Jaitley, Sinha said he is a burden on Gujarat as he is an RS member from Gujarat. "If he was not elected from here, a Gujarati would have got the chance."
He said Jaitley has only one rule, "chitt bhi meri patt bhi meri."
Sinha contended that Jaitley takes credit for everything, even if it's not implemented correctly.
Referring to Jaitley's taunt of Sinha being a "job applicant at 80," he said he is more fit than those "who give their speech while sitting." Jaitley had sat down during his budget speech due to health reasons.
He also asserted that though people tried to create a rift between him and son Jayant Sinha, MoS civil aviation in Modi's cabinet, they were unsuccessful.
Sinha also slammed Jaitley for calling Congress VP Rahul Gandhi "childish." Jaitley had made this comment when Rahul had demanded a single tax rate under GST. Sinha said earlier Jaitley had himself commented that the country would progress towards a single tax structure.
