CBI named P Jayarajan as the 25th accused in the RSS leader, E Manoj murder's case; they had informed the Kerala HC that it found incriminating materials that Jayarajan was the mastermind behind the murder.

Jayarajan filed an anticipatory bail plea in the Kerala HC, which the court rejected.

He surrendered before the Thalassery district-court and was sent to judicial custody for a month.

A local RSS leader, Elanthottathil Manoj, was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of CPI(M) workers in Kathirur town, Kerala.

CPI(M) workers allegedly hurled crude bombs at the vehicle in which Manoj and another RSS worker Pramod were travelling.

After their vehicle had stopped, Manoj and Pramod were stabbed multiple times by the CPI(M) workers. While Pramod recovered, Manoj succumbed to his injuries.

State-wide hartal called, Amit Shah condemns murder

Following Manoj’s murder, the BJP and the RSS affiliated organizations had called a state-wide hartal on 2 September 2014. The murder took place incidentally when BJP President, Amit Shah was in Thiruvananthapuram, on a visit to Kerala.

A special team of Crime Branch started investigating the RSS activist, E. Manoj's murder case.

In connection with the case, a Jeep was taken into custody by the special team, which was allegedly used by a prime suspect and his accomplices to flee the crime scene.

The Jeep was registered in the name of CPI(M) district secretary, P. Jayarajan.

11 Jan 2016CBI summons CPI(M) District Secretary

After the CBI questioned CPI(M) District Secretary, Jayarajan in June 2015, he was summoned by the agency on 12 January 2016.

Previously, the CBI had summoned him to appear before the team on 6 January 2016. But, stating some personal inconveniences, he submitted a petition for exemption.

Mr. Jayajan's name appeared in the list of accused in a charge-sheet filed by the CBI.

20 Jan 2016Court rejects Jayarajan’s plea

Fearing his arrest, Jayarajan filed an anticipatory bail plea in the sessions court on 11 January 2016.

Stating that the plea couldn't be granted on any grounds, the Principal Sessions Judge, Anil Kumar rejected his application as he was not an accused.

Following the court's order, Jayarajan said that he was not worried as he was not an accused.

A lower court rejected Jayarajan's anticipatory bail plea thrice, after which he had approached the Kerala High Court.
