BJP national executive meet concludes

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that a political resolution was moved by Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu at the end of the BJP national executive meet in Delhi.

Jaitley was speaking at a press conference convened after the meet.

He said the resolution was aimed at addressing the BJP's political challenges and the theme was "determined leadership and national policies of progressive governance."

The BJP national executive meet would begin on 19 March in New Delhi.

The meet comes as five states are heading to polls and amid a heated debate on nationalism that has spread across the country.

The meeting, which is expected to kick off with a speech by Amit Shah, will be preceded by a meeting of national office-bearers of the party.

The party meet will discuss strategies for the elections in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry and the Uttar Pradesh polls, due next year.

The Jat agitation which crippled Haryana will also be up for discussions to avoid such violence in BJP states in the future.

In addition, leaders are likely to discuss implementation of the budget and the Uttarakhand political crisis.

Statements BJP meet: Modi, Shah, Rajnath Singh speak out

Playing the nationalism card, BJP president Amit Shah made it clear that the BJP "will not" tolerate "criticism of the nation", during his speech at the BJP national executive meet in Delhi.

PM Modi said BJP workers "must work with one mantra: vikas, vikas, vikas."

Speaking on the anti-national issue, Rajnath Singh stated that, "We can accept political dissent, but not accept anti-nationalism."

At the end of the national executive meet, the BJP said that "the decision to cut the interest rates payable on small savings including PPF and Kisan Vikas Patra has been taken to make economy more efficient."
