Unnao: BJP slam's Congress' 'hatred of unapologetic-Hindus' after K'taka-president's comment

Unnao rape triggers war of words in Karnataka

A political war has erupted in poll-bound Karnataka after state Congress President Dinesh Gundu Rao called for beating UP CM Yogi Adityanath with slippers.

"If Adityanath had any decency he would have resigned by now," Rao said, referring to the Unnao rape.

By that logic, what should the CM of Karnataka be beaten with, considering it had registered 3,857 rapes, BJP asked.

UP MLA booked for rape after intense pressure

The Unnao case has landed the BJP in controversy after MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was accused of raping a teenager and using his influence to evade action.

Recently, her father was found dead in judicial custody with injuries on his body.

The case was transferred to CBI, the Allahabad HC spoke up, and PM Narendra Modi condemned the incident, before Sengar was finally arrested.

'If Adityanath had any decency, he'd have resigned by now'

Commenting on the incident, Rao said, "Yogi Adityanath is a disgrace to Indian politics, he is unfit to be the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh." Rao added the UP CM should be beaten with slippers.

'Your love for Muslims mustn't translate to hatred for Hindu-saints'

In response, the Karnataka BJP lashed out. "Your love for Muslims must not translate to hatred for Hindu saints," it addressed Rao, adding he insulted the Hindu-Vokkaligas of Karnataka who "hold (Adityanath) in high regard."

His statements showed "Cong's deep hatred of saffron & anyone who is an unapologetic Hindu," and its "disregard for rule of law."

"EC must register a case under IPC-153A."

Karnataka Congress upset with Adityanath for campaigning in state

Adityanath had riled the Karnataka Congress when he campaigned in the state for the upcoming assembly polls in January.

He had reportedly questioned CM Siddaramaiah's Hindu credentials, after which the latter had hit back: "A lot of Hindus eat beef. If I want to eat, I will. (Adityanath) should read what Swami Vivekananda said about cow slaughter before preaching us."
