In a shocking remark, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde said that Devendra Fadnavis was made the temporary Chief Minister of Maharashtra, so as to move funds worth Rs. 40,000 back to the Centre.
However, Fadnavis has categorically denied these claims. What are you thinking, Hegde ji?
To recall, Fadnavis joined hands with NCP rebel leader Ajit Pawar to run an 80-hour government.
Hegde made the claim at a gathering in Karnataka
Hegde made these comments, while speaking at a gathering at his parliamentary constituency Uttara Kannada in Karnataka.
He said, "You all know our man (Fadnavis) in Maharashtra became CM for 80 hours. Fadnavis then resigned, why did he do this drama? Didn't we know that we didn't have a majority? And yet he became the CM. This is the question everyone asks."
"In 15 hours, Fadnavis (as CM) moved Rs. 40,000 crore"
Hegde then went on to claim that the "drama" was "planned much before."
He said, "It's all central government money, and it wouldn't have been used for 'development'. This was all planned much before, and we knew that something has to be done about it."
"So Fadnavis took oath as CM. Immediately, in 15 hours, he moved all the Rs. 40,000 crore," he added.
However, Fadnavis has rubbished the allegations
However, Fadnavis has rejected these claims, saying that the claims made by Hegde are false. "No such major policy decision has been taken by me as CM. All such allegations are false," the former CM told the media.
