'Appeal to Delhi citizens to maintain peace and brotherhood'
After an "extensive review," Modi tweeted on Wednesday, "Police and other agencies are working on the ground to ensure peace and normalcy."
He added, "Peace and harmony are central to our ethos. I appeal to my sisters and brothers of Delhi to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. It is important that there is calm and normalcy is restored at the earliest."
Among those asking for Shah's resignation were Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi. Slamming the Modi government, Gandhi said, "The Centre and the Union Home Minister is responsible for the present situation in Delhi. The Union Home Minister should resign."
