Home Minister Rajnath Singh to visit China

Union Home Minister Rajanth Singh left for a six-day China visit.

He is expected to discuss ways to boost security ties and the issue of smuggled arms to Northeast militants.

Singh said that he intended to strengthen the tradition of mutual learning and better understanding between the two nations.

Singh would spend three days in Beijing followed by a three day stay in Shanghai.

Chinese Vice President on 5-day India visit

Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao visited India for a five day tour.

He visited the Ajanta Caves and met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

He had also held talks with President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He discussed Indo-Chinese cooperation on border issues and other economic partnerships between the two nations.

At the first counter-terrorism dialogue with China under the NDA government, India asked China to share its strategy for dealing with 'jihadi activities'.

An official said that China was also requested to help India understand their cyber security network which is one of the best in world.

India-China relations globally significant: President Mukherjee

Indian President Pranab Mukherjee met Chinese Vice President Li and said that Relations between India and China had a regional and global significance.

Li congratulated India on its rapid development and said China was determined to promote cooperation in all fields.

He also said that closer ties between the two countries would benefit both the countries as well as the Asian continent.

India-China to deepen defence ties

A 26 member Chinese delegation led by General Fan Changlong held a meeting with Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The two countries decided to deepen bilateral defence ties and maintain peace and tranquility at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

They also vowed to strengthen cooperation against terror, including at the international level.

Parrikar offered to share India's expertise in fighting terrorism with China.

India-China Border Defence Cooperation Agreement

A Border Defence Cooperation Agreement was signed between between India and China on 23 October 2013 which prohibited militaries of both sides from attacking each other.

In the high level meeting with Parrikar, General Changlong said that India-China relations were showing good momentum of development.

He said that the militaries of the two countries should take concrete actions to implement the decision taken on border issues.

He added that both countries must improve their communication mechanism to jointly safeguard peace and stability in border areas.
