It has surpassed the Android Marshmallow OS, which was the most popular Android OS till now. It has 28.5% of the overall market share.
Notably, Marshmallow's market share has dropped down to 28.1%.
While Nougat's 7.0 version is now on 22.3% of all Android devices, the Nougat 7.1 version has managed to capture a market share of 6.2%.
The two versions combined have seen a steady growth over the past couple of months, with them gaining an increasing market share of 20.6% in November, 23.3% in December, and 26.3% in January.
The seventh major version of the Android OS, Android Nougat was officially released on August 22, 2016.
It was first updated on the Google Nexus devices and first released on the LG V20 smartphone.
With Nougat, the Android OS incorporated features like split-screen view (displaying multiple apps on screen at once) and support for in-line notification replies.
Google's latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS is finally gaining momentum since its release in August 2017.
This month, it has surpassed the market share of 1% and is running on 1.1% of all Android devices.
The OS will only see improved adoption with time, as smartphone makers like Honor, Motorola, and Samsung will start shipping their devices with Oreo out of the box.
In comparison, Android's major competitor iOS has a different set of statistics to share. Last month Apple reported that 65% of its iPhones, iPads, and iPods were running the latest iOS 11. This was followed by iOS 10 having a 28% market share.
