India's first 5G network trial successfully completed
The 5G network test trial, which was conducted at Airtel's Network Experience Centre in Manesar, Gurugram, achieved a data speed of over 3 Gigabit per second (Gbps).
Here is more on it.
Work in Progress
5G will be a game changer: Airtel
"We are moving quickly to begin collaboration towards 5G interoperability and development testing (IODT)," said Abhay Savargaonkar, Director-Networks, Bharti Airtel.
"The promise of 5G is endless, it will be a game changer and, it will change the way we live, work and engage. We look forward to work closely with our partners for developing a robust 5G ecosystem in India," he added.
5G technology can deliver services like IoT, AR, VR
According to Airtel, 3 Gbps is the highest measured throughput for a mobile network in the 3.5 GHz band with 100 MHz bandwidth and end-to-end network latency of approximately 1 msec.
The trial demonstrated that 5G technology can deliver diversified services like Internet of Things (IoT) and augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) through high spectral efficiency.
3 Gbps is impressive throughput in 3.5 GHz band
"We have been focusing on developing 5G ecosystem and use cases and the show with Bharti Airtel impressively demonstrates the performance capability of 5G in 3.5 GHz band," said Emmanuel Coelho Alves, Director, Wireless Marketing, Huawei.
