Xiaomi has sent out invites for a launch event on April 15 in China, where it is expected to launch the Mi 6X smartphone.
The Mi 5X was launched in China in July last year but it came to India in September 2017 as the Mi A1.
This time too, the Mi 6X is expected to eventually come to India as the Mi A2.
Mi 6X will run stock Android OS as Mi A2
While the Mi 5X runs the Android-based MIUI OS, the Mi A1 runs stock Android under Google's Android One program. This is the reason the smartphone got a shift in branding in select markets. This is expected to happen to the Mi 6X as well.
Launch venue is Xiaomi founder Lei Jun's alma mater
