Apple may release iPhone SE 2 as early as June

Apple has reportedly been working on a newer version of iPhone SE with upgraded internals, minor design changes and it might get launched at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

In the latest update, a European regulatory agency filing has revealed about certain iPhone models that haven't been launched yet, hinting at the imminent launch of iPhone SE 2 - the successor to iPhone SE.

According to a report, "The Eurasian Economic Union has just authorized the sale on the Armenian, Belorussian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Russian soil of a whole slew of new smartphone heads. Equipped with iOS 11, they carry the model numbers A1920, A1921, A1984, A2097, A2098, A2099, A2101, A2103, A2104, A2105 and A2106."

Notably, these model numbers don't match with any existing iPhone models.

Connecting the dots

These never-seen-before iPhone models could be iPhone SE 2 models

The filing also notes, "Apple smartphones running iOS 11". This suggests that these new models are not the annual upgrades to iPhone X and iPhone 8 as those models will certainly run iOS 12 and won't be launched anytime before October.

Hence, these models that have appeared in the EEC database could be the iPhone SE 2 models Apple has been secretly working on.
