WhatsApp launches "Demote as Admin" feature on Android
WhatsApp has officially rolled out its "Demote as Admin" or "Dismiss as Admin" feature on Android.
The feature allows group chat admins to revoke the admin rights of other admins with a single click, without having to first remove them from the group.
Earlier, users had to delete an admin from the group and add him back as a member.
WhatsApp's "Demote as Admin" feature becomes live
Here's how to demote an admin
To demote an admin from a WhatsApp group, go to Group Info, click on the contact of the particular admin, and tap on the "Dismiss as Admin" option. The person will henceforth become a normal group member and not have any admin rights.
"Demote as Admin" complements the "Restrict Group" feature
The "Restrict Group" feature on WhatsApp allows only admins to send messages in the group chat.
With this, admins can restrict other members from responding to texts and sending photographs, videos, GIFs, documents, and voice clips.
Non-admin members will, however, still be able to view the sent messages in the group. The feature is currently available in WhatsApp version 2.18.132 and above.
