Soon, playing WhatsApp voice messages will be far easier

After adding a button for group calling, WhatsApp is simplifying the process of voice message playback.

According to a report from WABetaInfo, the messaging app is working on a way to automatically play voice messages that are received one after the other.

This way, when someone sends back-to-back messages, you'll be saved from the hassle of tapping on every single one individually.

Here's more.

The ability to play consecutive voice messages was spotted in the latest beta version (2.18.362) of WhatsApp for Android.

It is not yet active, but the code for the app confirmed the development, hinting at the possibility of a future release (possibly with the next beta).

To recall, WhatsApp for iOS received the exact same feature a month ago.

How automatic voice message playback would work?

The feature, likely to be activated by default, will work with two separate tones indicating different actions.

One will indicate that a voice message has finished playing and the next one is about to be played, while the other will be played when there's nothing to play after a message has ended.

The feature will start automatically when two or more messages are detected.

The feature sounds interesting, but it's not activated in the latest beta, which means Android users cannot try it.

There's no official word on the next release, but going by WhatsApp's pace of updates, we don't expect a long wait time, at least in beta.

The public release would happen only after beta test and could take a tad longer.
