Apple said to launch upgraded AirPods in 2019: Details here
A prominent analyst has given some insight into Apple's plans for future, particularly those associated with its AirPods.
Ming-Chi Kuo, who has mostly been accurate, has predicted that Apple will launch an upgraded pair of AirPods in the first quarter of 2019.
He also suggested a major design change for the truly wireless earbuds, but that won't come before 2020.
Here's what he predicted.
Apple said to launch upgraded AirPods in 2019
Apple's next possible AirPods update
We all expected a new generation of AirPods at Apple's recent iPhone event, but there was not even a single mention of the buds.
Now, Kuo has hinted that the company might make up for that by bringing upgraded AirPod models with 'wireless charging support'.
This won't be a major update but include tweaks like a newer Bluetooth standard and a new W-series chip.
Plus, the wireless charging case will be upgraded
Along with improved specs, Apple might also introduce an improved wireless charging case for the AirPods, Kuo said in the report. The case will probably have new internal components and appear slightly different from the original one, thanks to a redesigned heat-resistive hinge.

And, what about those AirPods with an all-new design
In the same report, Kuo has stated that Apple plans to launch AirPods with an all-new design in 2020.
He didn't reveal specific capabilities of these earbuds but noted they would promise an "innovative user experience" with deeper integration with iOS and Mac products.
Notably, he also expects a major rise in the demand of AirPods, with over 100 million units selling in 2021.
