In a matter of months, Apple will unveil iOS 13, the next generation of its operating system for iPhones and iPads.

The OS has long been said to be in the works, and now, 9To5Mac has detailed the capabilities it would bring along, including a system-wide dark mode and deeper multitasking features.

System wide dark mode

Feature #1

System wide dark mode

Speaking to sources familiar with iOS 13 development, 9to5Mac has learned that the OS will have a system-wide dark mode that could be enabled from settings.

We don't know what it would look like, but the capability would apply to apps. It will also have a high-contrast version, much like MacOS's dark mode.

iPad apps compatible with MacOS will also support the dark mode.

Feature #2

Enhanced multitasking functions on iPad

Along with the dark mode, iOS 13 will bring deeper multitasking functions, especially for iPad.

The feature, as the report explains, will allow the iPad users to run the same app in multiple windows.

Each window will be presented in the form of a card which you'll be able to move around the screen, stack on top of each other or side by side.

The annoying undo feature that involved shaking the device physically is getting changed with touch-based gestures.

Yes, with iOS 13, you might be able to drag three fingers left and right on the keyboard to undo or redo something you have written.

Also, the operating system will allow you to select multiple items in a list or collection by dragging fingers across them.

Feature #4

New Volume HUD, improved apps

Apple will finally deal with the annoying volume HUD that shows up at the center, replacing it with a more subtle indicator.

In addition to this, iOS 13 is expected to bring improvements to Safari, Mail, and Reminders.

Safari could start offering prompts for turning web pages into desktop sites, Mail could filter incoming emails by categories, while Reminders could get a new look.
