ASUS ZenFone 6, which is rebranded as ASUS 6Z in India after losing a trademark battle, is set to go official on June 19.
Touted as a flagship killer, the phone takes on the more premium offerings with an all-screen design, top-of-the-line internals, a novel rotating camera, and an irresistible price tag of $500 (approximately Rs. 30,000).
Here's why it is worth your money.
Premium design, crisp display
The ASUS 6Z has an all-screen design achieved by adopting a flip camera setup. On the rear, the curved glass-like panel houses the physical fingerprint sensor (a move to keep prices in check).
Further, there's a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) IPS screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 600-nits peak brightness.
So, whether you are playing games or streaming videos, you'll have an immersive experience.
Upping the selfie game
The ASUS 6Z features a motorized dual-lens rear camera comprising a 48MP (f/1.7) main lens and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens.
Notably, there is no dedicated selfie camera on this phone considering the main camera module flips up to serve as a front-facing camera.
This means your selfies will be much brighter, sharper and carry more details thanks to these high-quality sensors.
New approach to smartphone photography
While the rotating camera drastically improves selfies and vlogs, the motorized module also opens new opportunities for smartphone photography and videography.
Firstly, you can control the placement of the camera to capture shots at any angle (upto 180-degrees).
Secondly, the motorized camera can automatically take perfect panoramas by slowing covering a 180-degree view as against you panning the camera to capture a panorama shot.
Track your subjects with live focus in video mode
The novel motorized camera design also allows you to automatically track your subjects. So, while you are recording something, you can tap the subject on the screen and the camera will automatically move around to track it and keep it in focus.
The ASUS 6Z is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, paired with upto 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
So, as far as performance is concerned, the phone will meet all your smartphone needs.
Moreover, the phone runs the latest software Android Pie-based OS while offering all the standard connectivity options and sensors including a headphone jack.
A 5,000mAh battery
Under the hood, the ASUS 6Z packs a mighty 5,000mAh battery. For comparison, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers a 4,000mAh battery while the more premium S10+ and Huawei P30 Pro house a 4,100mAh and 4,200mAh batteries, respectively.
So, if you're looking for a good camera-centric flagship phone, the ASUS 6Z is a great option. Also, at around Rs. 30,000, it won't break your bank.
