Huawei Nova 5 series goes official in China: Details here

Huawei has launched Nova 5 series of smartphones in China.

The line-up comprises three smartphones: a premium Nova 5 Pro, standard Nova 5 and the budget-friendly Nova 5i.

Notably, the standard and the Pro model share the same design specifications and feature a waterdrop notched display, while the Nova 5i offers a punch hole display.

The Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5 sport a 6.39-inch waterdrop notched OLED display with full-HD+ resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Pro model is powered by a Kirin 980 chipset, while the standard Nova 5 packs a newly designed Kirin 810 processor.

Further, both phones pack a 3,500mAh battery with 40W fast-charging support, upto 8GB RAM, upto 256GB storage, and run Android Pie.


Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5 offer top-of-the-line camera performance

In terms of optics, the Huawei Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5 house a quad rear camera setup comprising 48MP (f/1.8) primary camera, paired with a 16MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP (f/2.4) macro camera, and another 2MP lens with an f/2.4 aperture to capture depth details.

Up front, both the phones sport a 32MP (f/2.0) shooter for selfies.

Under the hood, it packs a 4,000mAh battery with 10W fast charging support and runs Android Pie.

Nova 5i is no slouch in the camera department

For the shutterbugs, the Huawei Nova 5i offers a quad camera setup comprising a 24MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a 2MP (f/2.4) macro sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, the phone sports a 24MP (f/2.0) selfie shooter.

The Huawei Nova 5 Pro costs CNY 2,999 (approx Rs. 30,000) for its base-end 8GB/128GB model and goes upto CNY 3,399 (approx Rs. 34,000) for its top-end model with 8GB/256GB configuration.

The standard Nova 5 with its sole 8GB/128GB configuration costs CNY 2,799 (approximately Rs. 28,000).

Lastly, the Nova 5i starts at CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 20,000).
