Samsung to launch a vertically folding phone sometime in 2020
Here's more on this development.
Samsung's foldable phone will feature a Moto RAZR-like design
According to the report, the device will feature a 6.7-inch flexible OLED display that will serve as the main screen and a smaller 1-inch secondary display on the outer shell for notifications.
Reportedly, Samsung has been working on this model for sometime
To note, in March, Bloomberg reported that Samsung was working on two foldable phones.
One of the devices was claimed to be a vertically-folding phone with a larger internal display and a secondary external display (which may or may not land on the final version).
The other device was said to be an out-folding model with a single external screen, like Huawei's Mate X.
But concerns around foldable phones remain
While foldable displays mark the arrival of new technology and endless possibilities, their durability remains a grave concern. And alongside the fragility woes comes another serious issue - the astronomical price tags of these new-age devices.
The phone will go into production by 2019-end or early-2020
According to the report, Samsung will start manufacturing this new model by late-2019 or early-2020 and is expected to launch it sometime next year itself.
