While Jain's tweet confirms the arrival of Redmi 7A in India, it doesn't reveal a launch date. However, if previous reports are to be believed, we might see Redmi 7A go official alongside Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20 smartphones sometime in mid-July.
Right of the bat, Redmi 7A looks like a budget range offering. Up front, the phone has a conventional display with prominent bezels while on the rear, the matte-finished polycarbonate body houses a single camera.
It features a 5.45-inch display with a resolution of 720x1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.
Notably, the handset misses out on a physical fingerprint scanner.
The Redmi 7A offers a single 13MP rear camera with LED. The primary camera comes with features such as PDAF, AI Beauty, Night Mode, and AI Portrait Mode. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie snapper that also supports Face Unlock feature.
The Redmi 7A is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of storage (expandable upto 256GB).
Under the hood, it runs on Android Pie-based MIUI 10 and packs a 4,000mAh battery which supports 10W fast-charging.
Lastly, the phone comes with all standard sensors and connectivity options including dual-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro-USB port.
In China, the Redmi 7A costs CNY 549 (approximately Rs. 5,500) for its base-end 2GB/16GB variant and CNY 599 (approximately Rs. 6,000) for the 3GB/32GB storage model. Hence, we can expect the smartphone to launch in India at a starting price of around Rs. 6,000.
