About 50% of people have had a snoring problem at some point in their lives. Given how greatly sleep impacts your health, it's imperative to get a good night's sleep.
Hence, a mattress manufacturer has designed a smart bed to deal with your snoring.
This smart bed not only senses snoring but automatically changes your position to ensure that you sleep well and snore-free.
Tempur Sealy International has recently introduced the Tempur-Ergo Smart Base Collection with Sleeptracker technology.
Reportedly, the bed has sensors placed just below the mattress, which, unlike other snoring sensors that use microphones, uses motion detection that monitors heart-rate and breathing pattern to look for signs of labored breathing, which can reduce oxygen intake.
The technology was designed by Fullpower Technologies for Tempur Sealy.
Once the bed senses that you are snoring, it accordingly raises the head of the bed by 11-13 degrees to align your airway in a way that it eases breathing.
Raising the torso is actually a popular tactic that has been in use for quite some time (by using an extra pillow, etc.), only with the smart bed, it's all automatic.
However, the smart bed is no one-trick pony.
It comes with a flurry of features such as sensing the ambient room temperature and humidity.
After collating all the data about your sleeping conditions, it uses AI to create an analysis and sends a report right to your phone through an app, detailing how you slept with suggestions on how you could improve your sleep.
The Tempur-Ergo Smart Bases is also compatible with your Google Home and Amazon Alexa. So, you could also use voice command to adjust your sleeping position or to receive personalized tips on how you could sleep better.
Notably, there are various technologies available in the market, such as sensors attached to nightstands, mattresses, or even wearables, to monitor your sleeping pattern and detail if you've been snoring.
But, Tempur-Ergo alone offers an automatic solution for your snoring.
Obviously, though, the bed doesn't come cheap.
Available in Tempur-Pedic stores across North America from August, a queen-sized Tempur-Ergo Smart Base bed retails at $1,799 (Rs. 1.24 lakh).
If you want to go for an even smarter bed- with four massage zones, PerfectSeat technology, etc- you'll have to shell out $2,199 (Rs. 1.51 lakh).
The company is planning to expand retail availability in 2020.
