How is the jacket functioning made possible?

The jacket works on Google's patented Jacquard technology. Jacquard yarn combines thin metallic alloys with natural materials like cotton and silk.

These conductive fibres can send and receive signals so the motions made by user on the left cuff of jacket's sleeve are registered as touch inputs.

The inputs in turn are sent to smart phone through a button-sized Bluetooth-powered cufflink.
