Samsung's all-new Z Flip (its second foldable device) hasn't even arrived in most markets, and here we are talking about the company's third foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold 2.
According to a couple of reliabletip-offs, the upcoming handset will push the boundaries in really impressive ways with an under-screen selfie camera, high refresh rate, a bigger secondary display, and top-of-the-line specifications.
Fold will retain the out-folding design, debut an under-screen camera
According to renders (based on leaks), the Fold 2 will retain the out-folding design we saw on the original Fold, while offering many new changes.
The main flexible display will come with under-screen camera technology and will use ultra-thin glass protection while the secondary screen will be a taller Infinity-V display. Further, the device will sport a ceramic and stainless steel body.
The main screen will be a 120Hz 2K flexible panel
According to the tip-offs, the main screen will be a 7.7-inch QXGA+ AMOLED panel with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. On the outside, there will be a non-folding 6.4-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display.
The Galaxy Fold is also expected to come with a "new form of S Pen" that should allow you to take notes, edit spreadsheets, et al.
The Fold 2 will come with S20+ like rear camera
Tellingly, the Fold 2 will offer six cameras including a 10MP lens on the outer shell, a 10MP under-screen camera on the inside, and a quad-lens rear camera - same as what we saw on the Galaxy S20+ (12MP main + 12MP ultra-wide + 64MP telephoto + DepthVision camera).
We can also expect the foldable phone to support 8K video recording.
That's crazy innovation!
Under the hood
Under the hood, the Galaxy Fold 2 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 865 flagship chipset. This processor will also enable 5G support on the handset.
We expect to see up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and support for wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, as well as fast wired charging.
Fold 2 will be launched in July
According to the reputed tipster Ice Universe, Samsung is expected to launch the Fold 2 sometime in July. The handset will be offered in Blue, Silver, Gold, Pink, and Black color schemes, and will "be quite a bit more expensive" than Galaxy Z Flip.
