The upcoming OnePlus 8 series will not cost more than $1,000 (roughly Rs. 76,000), CEO Pete Lau has confirmed to Business Insider.
This means, even the top-of-the-line OnePlus 8 Pro, which is touted to come with flagship features like 120Hz AMOLED screen, IP68 water resistance, super-fast wireless charging, LPDDR5 RAM, and 5G support, will still be cheaper than the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S20 5G.
OnePlus 8 series also earned the highest A+ display rating
DisplayMate, a display benchmarking platform, has awarded the upcoming OnePlus 8 series of smartphones the highest rating of A+. The handsets have received over 10 "Display Performance Records" including color accuracy that "is Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect."
According to leaked renders, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will feature a punch-hole design with curved screen edges and metal-glass bodies. However, only the Pro version will boast of an IP68 water-resistance.
Further, the OnePlus 8 Pro will sport a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with support for 120Hz refresh rate whereas the standard model will settle for a 90Hz 6.55-inch Full-HD+ screen.
The OnePlus 8 Pro will headline a quad-camera setup including dual 48MP sensors, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 5MP camera. The regular OnePlus 8 will sport a triple-lens array comprising a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP secondary lens, and another 2MP camera.
On the front, both handsets will sport a 16MP camera housed in a punch-hole setup measuring just under 4mm.
