According to reports, the Indian cricket team is unhappy with its official kit sponsors Nike for providing the players with sub-standard kits.

The issue has been raised by the players and duly noted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The chief cricketing board of the country has decided to take up the case very strongly.

Rahul Johri, the BCCI's CEO, revealed that they have scheduled a meeting with the Nike officials next week in a bid to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

"It has come up for discussion in last CoA meeting and chairman CoA took it very strongly. The team cannot have sub-standard kits and we will be engaging with Nike," Johri said.

Nike has been India's sponsor for a long time

The Indian cricket team has been sponsored by Nike since 2006 and that is when the association began.

In 2011, Nike extended the deal and paid $60m for the next five years.

Then, in 2015, the deal was further extended for another five years, with Nike paying $57m.

The current deal runs until 30th September 2020 and Nike pays Rs 87,34,000 per match.
