Viacom18 Motion Pictures announced that a biopic based on the incredible journey of Indian women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj will soon be made.
The film rights have been acquired by the studio which had in the past produced big screen adaptations like Mary Kom, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
Raj hopes that the movie inspires young girls to take up sports as a career.
Mithali Raj made her ODI debut at the age of 16 against Ireland in 1999, when she went on to score a 100, making her the youngest centurion in Women's ODI.
Mithali Raj is the highest runs scorer in ODI with 6190 runs in 167 innings which includes 6 centuries and 49 half-centuries.
With a highest score of 114, she has an average of 51.58.
Regarded as one of the best batters of all time, she is the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run-mark in the ODI cricket.
Mithali also held record for highest test innings score with a 214 run knock against England, in 2002, at the age of 19. Her record was only broken by Pakistan's Kiran Baluch with a score of 242 in 2004.
Mithali Raj is the first Indian to lead the women's national team to ICC ODI World Cup finals twice - in 2005 and most recently in July 2017, when they lost the championship to England.
For her contribution to the sport, Mithali has been honored with the Arjuna Award, and Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award.
