Ind-Aus: Hosts aim for a 5-0 whitewash

Having won the ODI series 3-0, Australia's Glenn Maxwell said that they are "desperate" to achieve a 5-0 whitewash against India and a 3-0 clean sweep of the subsequent T20 series.

He said that chasing and winning three times in a row was phenomenal and shows why they are no.1 team in the world.

Maxwell also credited India for putting on their best show.

9 Jul 2015: India to tour Australia for limited over series

World champions Australia will meet India in a limited overs series which starts in January 2016 at the WACA in Perth.

As per the new bilateral agreement, India will tour Australia separately for Tests and ODIs.

Accordingly, India's tour of Australia will have five ODIs in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

India will also play three T20s in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.

Fact: Second consecutive tour of Australia

The series will be the second consecutive year of India touring Australia. In 2014-15, they played in four Tests followed by a tri-series also featuring England.

Australia wins the first ODI with twin centuries

The first Ind vs Australia ODI at Perth witnessed a run fest with a total of 619 runs, including three centuries.

Despite Rohit Sharma' s unbeaten 171, and a score of 309-3, India' s battig effort was undone by tons from Australia's George Bailey (112) and Steven Smith (149).

The hosts reached the target, wining the first ODI with four balls to spare.

15 Jan 2016: Yet another ton by Rohit but no win

The second ODI at Brisbane was won by Australia with six balls to spare.

Following the course of the first ODI, the second match too had India batting first, Rohit scoring a century (124) and Australia winning yet again, chasing 309 for victory.

With this, India's streak of completed games against Australia in Australia without a win now stretches to 10, across all formats.

As of 15 Jan 2016, with a 500-run minimum, nobody in ODI history has a better average against Australia than Rohit Sharma's 71.93. In his past five innings against Australia, he scored 209, 138, 34, 171* and 124.

Australia seals the series with a 3-0 win

Glenn Maxwell scored 96 from 83 balls to lead Australia to a series win over India in the third ODI at the MCG in Melbourne.

With hosts chasing 296, Maxwell hit eight fours and three sixes. The big-hitter deservingly got the Man of the Match award.

Australia have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series, which concludes with games in Canberra and Sydney.

Fact: Kohli becomes fastest to reach 7000 runs

In the third ODI at MCG, Virat Kohli reached 7000 runs milestone in 161 innings, bettering AB de Villiers’ feat who achieved this in 166 innings. He also bettered Sachin' s record by scoring 24 centuries in 161 innings. Sachi took 219 innings to score as many tons.

Dhoni's men bite dust in the 4th ODI

Australia beat India in the 4th ODI with a mammoth 348-8.

Australia batted first and openers Finch and David Warner gave them a glorious start.

Kane Richardson became the Man of the Match for his 5-wicket haul.

Rohit Sharma gave India a good start which was followed by some excellent batting by Kohli and Dhawan (both hit centuries) but managed to reach only 323.

23 Jan 2016: India wins the 5th ODI against Australia

The 5th ODI gave some respite to India as it won by six wickets preventing a whitewash by Australia and finishing the series 4-1.

India's Manish Pandey scored his maiden ton while chasing a score of 331 at the Sydney Cricket Ground and was name the Man of the Match.

Rohit Sharma secured 99 and was selected as the Man of the Series.
