The test match in which Sachin made his debut was not telecast live on Doordarshan, the only channel that the yesteryear cricket fans were left at the mercy of, owing to 9th Lok Sabha elections coverage.
The debut where Sachin's wicket was picked up by Waqar
The debut was contrasting in experience for Sachin and Waqar.
While Sachin who came to bat at number 5th position was bowled out at 15, his wicket was picked up by none other than Waqar Younis who scalped 4 wickets for 40 in 19 overs in the first innings. Sanjay Manjrekar, Manoj Prabhakar, and Kapil Dev were his other three victims.
